Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 20, 2026 · Effective: June 20, 2026
Effin Money is a personal finance service operated by METAFORIQ LLC, an Oregon limited liability company doing business as Effin Money (“Effin Money,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use our website and application (the “Service”), how we use it, and the choices you have. Our approach is to collect as little as possible: no advertising, no tracking, and we never sell your data.
The short version:We collect only what we need to run your account and the app. Your financial data never includes account numbers. We don’t use advertising, we don’t track you across the web, and we never sell or share your data with third parties for their own purposes. You can delete your data at any time.
1. Who this applies to
The Service is intended for residents of the United States who are 18 years of age or older. It is not directed to, or intended for, anyone under 18. See “Children’s privacy” below.
2. Information we collect
Account information
You sign in using Google Sign-In (OAuth). When you do, we receive basic profile information from Google — your name and email address — which we use to create and identify your account. We do not receive or store your Google password.
Financial data you import
You choose what to bring into Effin Money. The financial data in the app is intentionally minimal and does not identify your real-world accounts:
- Your first name and your month and year of birth.
- Account nicknamesonly — we do not collect or store account numbers, routing numbers, or login credentials for your financial institutions.
- Balance amounts and certain holdings you choose to enter or import.
Billing information
Effin Money is currently in a free closed beta, and we do not collect payment information. If and when paid plans launch, payments will be handled by a third-party payment processor. In that case we would receive limited billing details (such as your plan and payment status) needed to manage your subscription, but we would not store full payment card numbers on our systems.
Essential cookies and technical data
We use only essential cookies: one to remember your light/dark theme preference, and authentication/session cookies that keep you signed in. We do not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, or cross-site tracking.
3. How we use information
- To provide, operate, and maintain the Service and your account.
- To respond to your requests and provide customer support.
- To secure the Service and protect against fraud or abuse.
- To manage subscriptions and billing if you join a paid plan (future).
- To comply with legal obligations.
4. How your data is stored and protected
Your data is stored in a self-hosted MongoDB database that runs in its own isolated container within our infrastructure. Access is restricted to the administrator and is used only for operating, maintaining, and supporting the Service. We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, though no method of storage or transmission is 100% secure.
5. What we do not do
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
- We do not show advertising or build marketing profiles.
- We do not share your data with third parties for their own marketing or other purposes.
We may disclose information only where required by law, to protect our legal rights, or with a service provider acting on our behalf (such as a future payment processor) under obligations of confidentiality.
6. Data retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your data or your account at any time from within the app or by contacting us. When you delete your account, we remove your associated data from our active systems, except where we are required to retain certain records to comply with legal obligations.
7. Children’s privacy
The Service is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a minor has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. Your choices and rights
- Access and review the information in your account.
- Correct or update your information within the app.
- Delete your data or close your account at any time.
- Revoke Effin Money’s access from your Google Account security settings.
To exercise any of these, use the controls in the app or email us at [email protected].
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be communicated through the Service where appropriate.
